Ryan Higgins

According to his website, “Ryan T. Higgins is an author/illustrator residing in Southern Maine. He lives with his three dogs, three cats, two geckos, one tortoise, one son, one daughter, and one wife. As a child, he lived on a diet of cartoons, cheese sandwiches, and climbing trees. At the age of four he decided to become a cartoonist and he’s been making his own cartoons ever since.”

Ryan’s illustrations range from hippos and mice  and bears to fun crazy creatures and one awesome gentle giant. His latest picture books series feature the cranky bear Mother Bruce has been a hit with readers of all ages!

A wild gallery of Ryan’s creatures is viewable on his website.

Ryan runs Cocklebury Kids Summer Camp for Young Authors and Illustrators in July and August, guiding children to brainstorm ideas, plan and write, illustrate and design a book.

His latest book, Mother Bruce, was published by Disney Hyperion in November 2015, and received a 2016 Ezra Jack Keats Book Award Honor.
