Island Readers & Writers is proud to partner with Ryan T. Higgins, a Maine author/illustrator. Ryan will meet with 3-6 grade students from Edmunds, Whiting, and Machiasport and present on digital illustration and the craft of writing.
According to his website, “Ryan T. Higgins is an author/illustrator residing in Southern Maine. He lives with his three dogs, three cats, two geckos, one tortoise, one son, one daughter, and one wife. As a child, he lived on a diet of cartoons, cheese sandwiches, and climbing trees. At the age of four he decided to become a cartoonist and he’s been making his own cartoons ever since.”
Ryan’s cartoons range from hippos and mice to fun crazy creatures and one awesome gentle giant. We love his work, and we aren’t the only ones – he’s been discovered by Disney, too!
A wild gallery of Ryan’s creatures is viewable on his website.
Ryan has three published books: “Roger Goes Up” and “Twaddleton’s Cheese,” – both published by Ryan’s small publishing company, Cocklebury Books – and “Wilfred,” published by Dial in 2013.
Ryan even runs Cocklebury Kids Summer Camp for Young Authors and Illustrators in July and August, guiding children to brainstorm ideas, plan and write, illustrate and design a book.
Ryan joins a wonderful group of IRW author/illustrator partners who, each in their unique style, educate and inspire children to tell their stories and share the contents of their thriving imaginations.
