Celebrate Maine’s Bicentennial and its rich culture this summer! Children and adults are invited to join the IRW Community Book Club with The Young Man and the Sea by acclaimed author Rodman Philbrick. Book Club participants will receive an Adventure Tote with a copy of the book, discussion questions, art activity and a log book to record activities and thoughts. There will be a virtual book discussion, an art program with artist and illustrator Rebekah Raye, tour of the Tremont Historical Society and presentation of a real harpoon, and an event with the author himself!
Pre-registration for this free program is required. By registering, you are agreeing to read the book, attend the event with Rodman Philbrick on Saturday, July 17, and other program events as you are able. A parent, caregiver relative, or other adult is encouraged to read the book and participate with the child. Let’s show them that a love of reading lasts for life! The publisher has suggested The Young Man and the Sea for ages 9 and up.
