Nina lives in Southwest Harbor on Mount Desert Island, and brings energy, entrepreneurship and a library science background to IRW. She works as an “Ed Tech” at Mt. Desert Elementary School. Nina is enthusiastic about her new role on the IRW Board.
“As a parent, I’ve seen firsthand the direct impact Island Readers & Writers programs and opportunities have had on my kids and the kids in our communities. They’ve been given access to authors, illustrators, story characters and the bigger world out there, which is a tremendous and lasting gift. I am proud to be working with IRW, and hope to help get the word out about all the exciting things we’re up to.”
Jen is a very successful artist living in Northeast Harbor on MDI, and is PTO Chair at the Mt. Desert Elementary School. Active in her community, she is also on the Board of The Neighborhood House.
“I’m very honored to be part of Island Readers & Writers and excited to see each new way that IRW is enriching the lives of students in Maine. There’s a wonderful Lily Tomlin quote that says, ‘I always thought someone should do something about that, then I realized I was someone.’ I’m proud to be part of an organization that lives up to that quote every day.”
Cynthia brings an author’s point of view to the IRW Board. IRW has used two of her award-winning books, Touch Blue and Rules, in very popular multi-school experiences.
“The world expands exponentially when a child reads a book! I look forward to learning more about the islands, authors and people of our adopted state.”
Anne divides her time between Pacific Palisades, California and Southwest Harbor on MDI. Her background is in education. She serves as a Regent at the School of Education of Loyola University and is on the Board of Camp Beech Cliff. Her love of Maine and desire to give back has brought her to IRW.
