**RESCHEDULED to MARCH 10 DUE TO WEATHER**
Join us for an interactive story time followed by an art activity where participants will make their own beautiful birds! This is an Island Readers and Writers (IRW) and Wendell Gilley Museum partner program. This event is free and open to the public, for children of all ages.
“Birds flew in from all over. With a flip-flop-flapping of their wings and a whirring, stirring of the air, they flew down to the lake from everywhere.”
About Beautiful Blackbird
Ashley Bryan’s iconic Beautiful Blackbird is a picture book adaptation of a tale from the Ila-speaking people of Zambia that celebrates both community and individuality. Long ago, the many colorful birds of the world had no markings on their beaks or feathers—until they appeal to Blackbird, the most beautiful bird of all.
