What could be better than spending time with Friends Over Books? Join IRW’s Lisa Herrington Mondays and Wednesdays for a half-hour, pre-K story time. Each week, Lisa will take children through the different elements that make up a picture book, explore its words and images using the Whole Book Approach, and lead a fun art activity!
While we recommend joining us for the entire six-week program, you may register and drop in at any time! Please register separately for each date you plan to attend, but the same Zoom link will be valid for all dates.
Week Two:
Our book on Monday will be Weslandia by Paul Fleischman, Ills by Kevin Hawkes. This week, we will focus on books’ endpapers.
Activity: Together, we’ll draw a Lifeland—an autobiography map that looks like an island using your first initial. We’ll fill your island with things about you, your family, and homes for each person, your likes and where/how you would include them on your map, favorite games, food, clothing—endless possibilities!
Materials Needed: Paper, pencil, crayons or markers, imagination
